It has black fur on ears, eye patches, muzzle, legs, and shoulders. The rest of the animal's coat is white. Although scientists do not know why these unusual bears are black and white, some speculate that the bold coloring provides effective camouflage into their shade-dappled snowy and rocky surroundings. The panda's thick, wooly coat keeps it warm in the cool forests of its habitat. Giant pandas have large molar teeth and strong jaw muscles for crushing tough bamboo. Many people find these chunky, lumbering animals to be cute, but giant pandas can be as dangerous as any other bear.

Re: The following animals are on my shit list

I couldn't get past the giraffes >.<

Re: The Chernobyl Diaries

Thank you for the brilliant phrase about preposterous boobs like matching dinosaur eggs. After that I just had to follow up who it was, and discovered the work of the amazing Olivia Taylor Dudley. She wasn't deployed to best effect in this film but maybe with the forthcoming Vatican Tapes she will finally get the recognition she deserves

Re: The Office Bully

Yes! I've often had an uncomfortable feeling about the Dwight/Jim relationship and it's portrayal in the show. I kept asking myself why I was cheering for this guy (Jim).

Re: Tortoise? What’s that?

It seemed to me that Roy was having emotional responses all through the movie. He freaked out and killed Tyrel. He was clearly upset about Priss' death. The "Time to die" scene was overtly emotional.

I'm not sure that the Replicants were designed to never feel any emotions. I think they had trouble with complex and confusing emotions, hence the test. They all seemed to feel basic emotions, like anger, grief, love, joy. I got the impression that the test was meant to present complicated and unexpected emotions, and Leon was responding to the fact that the emotions he was feeling were confusing and upsetting.

I never got the feeling that the Replicants were evolving or developing new emotions beyond their programing. Rachael had her implanted history and a bevy of emotions, and Leon had photographs in his hotel room that suggested he also had an implanted history. So it would stand to reason that he was as capable of emotion as Rachael, by design.

I think that the ethical question of the movie is whether it's okay to give androids emotions when they're only going to live for four years and work in space mines. Leon, Roy and Priss all showed emotions, but they were child like and underdeveloped emotions. Priss had her tantrum after being shot, Roy killing Tyrrell and the Toymaker, Leon's response to the test. Rachael and Deckard himself (depending on which theory you subscribe to) seemed to be the only Replicants who had a functional grasp of their emotions.

Re: Tortoise? The music might be just my interpretation and was never intended to show there was a response, but then did Roy Batty have an emotional response to Deckard hanging from the girder after he jumped rooftop to rooftop? Had the nexus 6 replicants developed their emotional responses quicker than their limited life spans were designed for?

Re: Tortoise? Is this a genuine reaction, him starting to develop emotional responses in spite of his youth, or an attempt to humanize the stimulants for the audience? Any thoughts?

Re: Let Me In

Can't agree more on your points, no comment on the swedish version since i haven't seen it, but you are absolutely right about Let Me In, I felt shocked and deeply disturbed when I finally realised how sinister and manipulative abby is towards a kid like Owen, that all the warm moments are just the part of a calculated plan to enslave him to be the new tool. The film gives me chill in the backbone that creeps on slowly as i later go through each of the scenes in my mind, haven’t had such feel for a film in a long time, no wonder why Stephen king said it’s the best American horror film in the last 20 years...

Re: Handle with Care (sort of NSFW)

I think someone is out about six thousand bucks, from the looks of it.

Re: Grave Encounters

THAAAANK YOU!!! I also saw the reveal coming, though I wasn't sure if that was gonna be the whole deal, or if maybe something else was going on and the two were playing into each other. I haven't bothered to think too deeply about whether the rest of the film makes sense in light of what we eventually learn, but on a surface level I didn't think the twist came off as too outlandish.

I'm becoming quite a fan of Miss Olsen (having watched this and Martha Marcy May Marlene so far) - she reminds me of kind of a less tough version of Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Offhand observation: especially given the psychological subtext, the flick reminded me quite a bit of the (far superior) Lovely Molly.

Re: The Green Ribbon

I wonder if they could get away with publishing those books now? He used to be a vigilante in Detroit around every Halloween. I personally know folks who remember him dressing this was from 1982-1989. I myself as I posted earlier remember the "weird mime guy" from back in 1985. His story is fascinating and so detailed it's hard NOT to believe him.

Re: Dear Lost

Yes! I've lived it over and over in my dreams hundreds of times because, like you, I think shes just that cool. I'd do it even today if I had the chance.
In love with Carly Simon too...Jeff M.

Re: Oz the Great and Powerful

Well, there was (I'm assuming) another Witch out there somewhere (if there's a north, south, east and west). I appreciated some of the humor and references to Oz of old.
Remember when Charlize Theron played an awesome evil witch in that
terrible Snow White movie? Yeah, she should have been one of the
sisters here. I'd love to see her spar with Michelle Williams and
Rachel Weisz.
